Almost every one in the United States owns at least one car. A car is one of the easiest modes of transportation. There could be few people who do not own a car, but it is almost mandatory in United States since car comes in handy, to commute to work and to visit various locations for dream vacations, for weekends etc.

There are many advantages in traveling by car with the benefits of not having to spend a lot of money and at the same time enjoying the car ride with whomever you are traveling.

One of the most important things is the planning of car ride, is it for the weekend or is it for a visit, if it is for the weekend to ensure the mileage, to ensure the place of living and details like that.

If it is a long weekend, ensure that Car has been checked, there is no leakage, it has been washed properly, according to the mileage Gasoline has been filled in, taking extra tires help in case of breakdown, checking the car properly helps a lot, to avoid disappointments while traveling. Otherwise most of the time will be spent on getting the car to work if it is not checked prior to setting off.

When children are traveling along, ensure that car seats are set properly so that babies are enjoying their ride, this tip is for children of under one year.

One year to three year olds do not necessarily have a problem of the seat belt, but they would have a problem if there were no toys or snacks around, so ensuring that toys are carried for the toddlers, so that they dont distract the ride.

Car games also could be an advice to carry for the children just above 3 year old.

Some of the General tips are to ensure carrying a first aid, carrying Tylenol for adults and children, carrying lots of juices, enough snacks for everyone, cell phones, video games, and all the necessary cloths that are needed to carry.

Having phone numbers of hotels or motels also comes in handy if you are planning to drop in one.

Even if the budget is tight proper planning will help you to enjoy your car ride to where ever you are going and with whom ever you are going

The Greatest Mom in the History of the World

The story of one man's adoration for his mom.

Everyone thinks their mom is the Greatest Mom in the History of the World. When I was a child, my friends always used to try to claim that their mom was the best, and a scuffle would break out. I would just stand to the side and smirk; they were, of course, all wrong. How could their mom be the best when mine obviously had the title?

My mother was a single mom. My father walked out on us before I was even born. He just left for cigarettes when Mom was 6 months pregnant and never came back. Mom figured that if he wanted to go that badly, shed just let him stay gone. And so he was.

When I was two, my mother realized that our rented room in the worst part of New York City just wasnt where she wanted me to grow up. I was a typical two-year-old boy, active and into everything. The day I picked up a used needle to play with was the day she decided to get us out.

Unfortunately, with little money, her options were limited. She did have one very key skill, though she was fluent in French. Her parents migrated from France just prior to World War II, and her home growing up had been French-only. So when she found the ad for a program to teach English to teens in the French countryside, she jumped at the chance and moved us to France.

I spent the next 13 years of my life in France. As part of the arrangements, we received a house in the village in which we could live and Mom could privately tutor in her spare time. Until I was fully fluent, Mom always spoke French at home. By the time I was 4, you couldnt pick my accent from the other children in our village. Once I was fluent, we fluctuated between French and English at home, mostly English.

We never had a lot of money, but it always seemed like we had plenty. I never went without. It helped, of course, that life in the village was very inexpensive. Little did I know that Mom was stashing away every sou she could for our return to the US. I just grew up and did what I was expected to do. I earned superb marks in Primary and early Secondary school, and never got into behavioral problems beyond those that are standard for kids growing up.

When I was 13, Mom announced that it was time to move back to the US. She wanted me to attend an American high school and college. I didnt want to go; I wanted to remain in France with the people with whom I had grown up. Mom knew, however, that I had to return to the US if I was to have any sort of a future.

We returned to New York, but came back considerably better off than we had left. Mom enrolled me in a prestigious private school; I went on a combination of a scholarship, tuition benefits, and her savings. We lived in a small row house near my school, and she taught French to the elementary students at the school. Graduation came, and I was accepted to an Ivy League university. Money was never a question; Mom wanted me to have the best education possible.

Mothers Day is always a big holiday for me. When I think about what my mother sacrificed to raise me as she wanted, it absolutely boggles my mind. I lavish her with gifts every year, trying to top the previous years. But the one gift that remains constant is a box of fine French chocolates. I started this tradition in college, saving the few pennies I had to send her the box. But Ive always wanted to silently thank her for what she did with a treat that she would always gaze at longingly in the shops in our village in France, but never actually purchase.

Years have passed, and Im now a successful corporate attorney for one of the Fortune 100 firms. As my salary has grown, Ive done everything possible to take care of Mom when she lets me. She tends to balk when I try to give her big ticket items, but I can slip little things by with her just smiling at me. And every time I give her that box of French chocolates, she gets a small tear in her eye as she bites into the first one.

Go for Higher Education on Bad Credit Unsecured Student Loan

Students have no source of own income and hence need to borrow for each of their expenses such as tuition fee, hostel fee, food, books, travel etc. Bad credit unsecured student loan is mostly required for college education expenses. It is easier to avail bad credit unsecured student loan than it is thought to be.

It must be noted that one can go for a bad credit student loan only when the student has completed his education and has started earning. Now to qualify for the bad credit student loan a student is required to earn a minimum of 10000 to 15000. But the earning does not make the loan taking easy as lenders still think that students are not in regular employment and plus there is this bad credit of the student which is a deterrent.

Despite some hurdles posed by the lenders, they offer bad credit unsecured student loan to the students. These students do not offer any security of the borrowed amount to the lender, hence, to cover the risks involved the lender charge higher interest on the loan. The loan amount will depend on how much the student is earning which indicates the repayment capability of the student. Students do not have to worry about repayment duration of the loan much as normally lenders give ample time which is when the student actually starts earning through regular employment

Parents of student can be of great help. If parents possess better credit than the student he can opt for a PLUS loan which is given to parents and the amount can be utilized by the student.

One disadvantage of bad credit unsecured student loan is that it comes with higher interest rate. The lender has to cover for the high risk involved in the loan offer which prompts him to charge higher interest rate. The higher interest rate should not worry students because many of these loans defer payment till they finish college and start on a regular job.

You can source the loan from credit card companies and banks but both of them will charge very high interest rate and there are in-built dangers also. One option is that you search for the lender on internet and see if terms-conditions suit you and apply to the lender.

Bad credit student loan enables you in taking finance for higher studies even when you are not regularly employed. The loan besides meeting educational expenses goes a long way in improving credit score also.

How To Write A Personal Statement For College

The entire college admission process can be exhausting and nerve-racking but there are few things worse than writing the personal statement for college applications. Your first thought is that it would be a piece of cake, everything you have to do is write a few words about yourself - what your interests are, what you would like to accomplish in life. However, personal statements for college have never been an easy task. When writing a statement for college, your high school writings for which you got straight A's won't do you much good.

The main issue is that when writing your personal statement for college, you are not in that world and you are well aware of it. Personal statements are not supposed to be essays about how much you admire famous people like Gandhi. You shouldn't also write about the first time you leaned how important teamwork is or anything like that. They have heard it all, so you cannot write anything new and this, unfortunately, is not in your favor.

These are the reasons why so many people seek help when writing their personal statement for college is concerned. I had a good time growing up. As my mother is a very famous and acknowledged writer, I always counted on her for feedback. Even now she is there for me when I need an intelligent and well-structured statement or paper. Apart from helping with my essays, my mother was also good enough to give me a hand when I was writing my personal statement for college.

Of course, I realize not everyone is lucky enough to have such a valuable resource at their home, and not everyone can also depend on their high school English teacher. So, if this concerns you, then you can try searching some sites on the internet that might turn to be quite helpful. For instance, most of them offer free tips telling you what you should avoid and what you should include when writing your personal statement for college. From my point of view, when writing your personal statement it's best to try to find face to face feedback from someone whom you trust.

Show Your Logo On The Go

Want to show your school spirit while you are out and about? Whether you are traveling on foot, by car, or any number of other forms of transportation, opportunities abound for you to display your colleges logo and colors, so theres no mistake about where your loyalties lie. It can be a great conversation starter, too.

Electric bikes can be a great idea for college students. Your kid may be pressuring you for a car, but the truth is that parking on college campuses is at a premium, and many students end up tacking parking ticket fees onto their ever increasing tuition bills. Many electric bikes are small enough that they can be stored in a students dorm room, or in traditional bike storage areas. They can be folded down to take up even less space. Plus, with around 20 miles per charge, they are perfect to get your student just far enough to get to class, grab a few groceries, or head to the movies, without the added pressure of being the one who is always asked for rides. They recharge in a few hours, so theres not much down time.

Already happy with your human powered two wheeler and looking for a way to accessorize? Most colleges have decals in many different shapes and sizes, so youre sure to find one that will fit your bike. You might even find a flag that will fit.

If you do have a car, college logo accessory options are endless. There are hitch covers, window film, steering wheel covers, license plate frames, even horns that play your schools fight song. There are floor mats, bug shields, antenna caps, and mudflaps. If by chance there is something that you can think of that isnt available, there are many stores and companies that will custom create items for you as well, just ask!

Are you running around? Literally? No problem. In cold or warm climes, you can find an array of t-shirts, sweatshirts, shorts, sweatpants, socks, and windbreakers that show your schools logo and colors, along with hats and sweatbands.

If youre traveling by plane or train, you can find backpacks, duffle bags, purses, computer bags, and tote bags that show off your school spirit. Toss in a college logo robe and some slippers to feel totally at home on the road. No matter how you get there, you can show the world youre a fan!

A Tribute To The Few Who Sacrificed For The Many

America has successfully celebrated another Independence Day. I could be corrected in my calculation, but I believe every American celebrated this great holiday in some fashion, with barbecues aplenty along with many firework displays. All government offices, banks and many businesses were closed in observance of this holiday.

One thing about Independence Day is that it is a great American holiday of which few people object to.

Americans, overall, love to celebrate ... anything. And I dont know anybody who did not join in the celebration of Independence Day. Its not a right or left celebration. Its not a Republican or Democrat celebration. Its not a conservative or liberal celebration. Its an American celebration.

Independence Day is not like other holidays such as Christmas or Easter, which are religious holidays engendering all kinds of emotional responses for and against. Every year we seem to have what some call the Christmas battle. Some people believe in Christmas, others do not. Some people celebrate Christmas, others do not. Unfortunately, the ones who do not celebrate Christmas are the ones offended by those who do celebrate Christmas.

Go figure. I guess the old Ebenezer Scrooge still haunts the land.

But Independence Day is different. It is a celebration of our American freedoms. We may disagree on what those freedoms are from time to time but no American disagrees with the fact that this country is the land of the free. Whether it is the land of the brave, only future historians will be able to tell us that.

America is in a great struggle now, concerning illegal immigration. Thinking about this I am wondering if Native Americans are not rethinking the leniency of their immigration policy way back when. They did not have a good policy and look what happened to them.

Our good old American philosophy is, I may not agree with what you say, but Ill fight to the death for your right to say it.

Some people might not think this is a great country. If that is true, why does everybody in the world want to come here? Maybe I am missing something, but I do not see a mad immigration rush to China n or, for that matter, to Russia or any other country in the world.

In many countries, the epitome of success is immigrating to America. That is the one goal they work for all their life. If they cannot go, they do everything in their power to make sure their children can go to America, so they can experience the American dream n to become whatever they want to become.

The big problem we are having with immigration only proves how great our country is. We may not all agree on the solution to this problem, but recognizing this problem only proves what a great nation we are.

The greatness of our country is also seen in the fact that all our politicians have failed in destroying our country. My take on these politicians is, how can so few cause so much trouble for so many people? And the crazy part of it is, the American people vote these politicians in office knowing full well how bad they are going to screw up our country once they get in office.

If elected politicians were half as smart as running-for-election-politicians, we would not have all the problems in our country. I think when a politician is sworn into office something happens. Im not sure what happens, but I think it has to do with frying brain cells. After all, the word elected sort of resembles electrocuted.

The statesmen of yesterday have faded away, only to be replaced by self-serving politicians who cannot think beyond the next election. If the electorate was smart, it will insist on passing a law forbidding any politician to run for reelection. The moment thoughts of reelection come to mind that politician would be sent to a rehab center until those thoughts faded away. Personally, I would insist on a three strikes and youre out policy.

Although all Americans celebrate Independence Day, many have forgotten the tremendous sacrifice making it possible. Looking back over our history, we can see that there have been a few Americans who have sacrificed for the benefit of all Americans. Some of those few have given the ultimate sacrifice.

I may not like war, and the consequences involved in war, but I realize it is the foundation of our Independence Day. Freedom never comes cheap. Maintaining that freedom is the costliest thing a nation can do, often sacrificing the lives of its best citizens. From the Revolutionary War all the way to present day, our American freedom has been a constant struggle and battle.

All Americans today and tomorrow are the beneficiaries of the sacrifice of the few.

Our spiritual freedom is also the result of the suffering and sacrifice of the one for the many. For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. (Romans 5:15 KJV.)

Because of this, the apostle Paul could say, Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. (Galatians 5:1 KJV.)

All freedom, national and religious, comes with a price vigilance. Negligence always ends in bondage.

Let us thank the few for our national liberty and the One for our spiritual liberty. The two go hand-in-hand.

Amsterdam - Enjoy Treasures Of Art And History In A Bicycle Ride

The early days

Amsterdam was founded as a fishing village around the thirteenth century. During the 14th, but especially the 15th century, Amsterdam underwent a rapid development, which laid the foundation for the Golden Age, when the city became the staple market of the world. The year 1672 was a year of disaster for the Dutch Republic with the French and English attacking simultaneously. Nevertheless, Amsterdam managed to consolidate its prosperity during the period 1672-1795 and managed to retain its position as the financial center of Europe. During the French occupation (1795-1813), Amsterdam suffered badly from the economic recession, a state of affairs reflected by the stagnation of the demographic development. The period 1813-1940 is marked by economic recovery and, from 1870 onwards, by expansion and a rapid population growth, as result of the Industrial Revolution which triggered off a New Golden Age. Shortly before the First World War the city began expanding and new suburbs were built, but in 1940 Germans installed a Nazi civilian government in Amsterdam that cooperated in the persecution of Jews, throwing again the country in misery.

Any time can be the best time to visit Amsterdam. The peak of the tourist season is around Easter and July-August, when the weather is the finest. Weather, however, is never really extreme, and if you're one of the growing numbers who favor off-season travel, you'll find the city every bit as attractive during these months. Not only are airlines, hotels, and restaurants cheaper and less crowded during this time, but there are also some very appealing events going on. Winters are rarely extremely cold, and sheltering in the cosy pubs will give you a chance to meet real Dutch. The cultural season is in full swing between September and May.

Streets breathing history and culture

Amsterdam has a broad spectrum of recreational and cultural sights that range from fascinating old buildings, but of all this mosaic, museums are the main tourist attraction. Everyone knows the Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum and Stedelijk Museum, but there is much, much more.

The pinnacle of sophistication and home to the three major and most important museums in Amsterdam is the Museum quarter (Museumplein), an art lovers paradise which boasts the Rijksmuseum, the Stedelijk Museum of Modern Art and the Van Gogh Museum. Without doubt, any culture vulture will be in their element in this recently renovated quarter. Also, in amongst the stylish hotels and cafs, lays the majestic Concertgebouw, renowned the world over for its breathtaking acoustics and locally, for its free lunch time classical concerts. The Museum quarter is arguably the cultural hub of the city, offering a kaleidoscope of activities and attractions. A stroll down the exclusive P.C. Hooftstraat, Pieter Cornelisz or Van Baerlestraat will take the you into some of the worlds most chic couture houses.

If you seek the natural beauties of Amsterdam, this botanical garden will surely reveal them to you - Amsterdams Hortus has from way back been known as the towns pride and joy, an oasis of peace and beauty at the very centre of the bustling city. Established in 1638 as a herb garden for Amsterdams doctors and pharmacists, the garden is almost 400 years old and it has more than 6000 plants, some of them really unique, as 2000 years old agave cactus. The Museum of Life (Museum van het Leven) will tell you the history of life on Earth by very attractive means, and after visiting the zoo, the Geological Museum, the Zoological Museum, the Plant Houses, the Aquarium or the Planetarium are ready to reveal you ancient secrets.

As for the events you should not miss if you get to Amsterdam this summer, the 10th annual edition of the Comedytrain International Festival features the very finest in English language stand-up comedy, for six weeks in July and August. With the likes of Adam Hills (Australia), Eddie Bannon (Ireland), Adam Bloom (UK), Paul Provenza (US) and Ron Vaudry (Canada), you will leave Toomler in stitches, guaranteed. Beginning with the 11 of August, for five days, special locations in the heart of Amsterdam form the backdrop for more than 80 classical concerts, as the Grachtenfestival catches the public attention. The concerts can be enjoyed in houses and gardens of hospitable local inhabitants and in concert halls, historic buildings, museums and out of doors in the area around Prinsengracht.

A hippie heaven

And because shopping is one of the tourists favorite ways of discovering the city, you will find that there are several shopping corridors in the city and each one has its own charms and specialties. The first one is Nieuwedijk-Kalverstraat, a 1km pedestrian area full of shops, with no traffic other than a constant stream of tourists, students, scholars, excursionists and locals. On the other side of the square you will enter the Kalverstraat, the place where all mainstream brand names have one or more stores. In addition to this, flower markets, bicycles, restaurants, everywhere. If you like a little more luxury, the Pieter Cornelisz Hooftstraat is where you can do some serious damage to your credit card. As the evening falls, Amsterdam starts to sparkle, especially on the nice spring and summer days. While all cinemas and theaters are busy, city clubs, cafs and restaurants are full of joyful, friendly crowd. Between dips into artistic and historical treasures, be sure to take time out to absorb the freewheeling spirit of Europe's most vibrant city.

You Thought TV Antennas were a Thing of the Past

Many experts including myself are convinced TV antennas are the new wave of the future. Why? Because at this time nearly every broadcast TV station in the United States is now available in crystal clear digital HDTV and best of all it's free. All you need to enjoy your favorite programs in picture perfect high definition is an HDTV set with a digital tuner and a TV antenna.

The best possible HDTV pictures come from those you get using a TV antenna. Snowy pictures and poor sound quality are a thing of the past. With digital HDTV broadcast television you'll enjoy crystal clear life like pictures and CD quality Dolby surround sound, along with many more channels to choose from, all provided to you free of charge by your local broadcasters.

The nature of digital broadcasting allows each broadcaster in your area to provide up to six channels where there once was one analog channel. In other words digital broadcasting makes it possible for your local broadcasters to provide you with up to six times as many channels. Many areas of the country now have dozens of channels available, free for the watching.

The average American households spends more than $60.00 a month for pay TV. Whether or not free digital broadcast television will replace your current cable or satellite TV is strictly a personal choice. Digital television along with the rising cost of pay TV has many people dropping their pay TV, installing a TV antenna and eliminating their monthly cable bill altogether.

If you choose to keep your pay TV provider the addition of an over the air TV antenna to receive free digital TV is still likely to be in your future. In most areas pay providers offer you just a fraction of the local channels that are available with a TV antenna. They choose the channels you get, charge for what they do offer, and most of what they offer is of poorer picture and sound quality when compared to over the air digital TV. Last but not least, when your cable or satellite goes out, and it will, you'll still have your digital broadcast channels.

I'm not saying you should do away with your pay TV provider. I have satellite TV in my home, we use and enjoy it. Too many people think it's an either or decision when it comes to pay TV or a TV antenna. The truth is, a TV antenna system compliments pay TV and vice versa. Its not your pay TV providers fault they can't offer you all the local channels that a TV antenna can. In many cases Federal law prohibits pay TV providers from broadcasting many of these channels.

With the introduction of digital HDTV the benefits free over the air TV can offer are tremendous. I think the following statement released by an industry spokesperson says it best. Tips on Feeling Better during Cold and Flu

The flu, which is a nickname for the influenza virus, starts suddenly and hits hard. Your fever may go as high as 40C (105F). You'll probably feel weak and tired, and have a dry cough, a runny nose, chills, muscle aches, severe headache and a sore throat. The fever may last for three to five days. After the flu goes away, you may still feel weak and tired or keep coughing for up to three weeks.

The flu is most common in winter and early spring. It often occurs in outbreaks. The flu virus changes often. About every 10 years it undergoes major changes, so that more severe outbreaks occur.

Feel better By Doing:

1.Stay home and rest, especially while you have a fever.

2. Stop smoking and avoid secondhand smoke, which can make cold symptoms worse.

3. Drink plenty of fluids like water, fruit juices and clear soups. Fluids help loosen mucus. Fluids are also important if you have a fever because fever can dry up your body's fluids, which can lead to dehydration.

Don't drink alcohol.

4. Gargle with warm salt water a few times a day to relieve a sore throat. Throat sprays or lozenges may also help relieve the pain.

5. Use saline (salt water) nose drops to help loosen mucus and moisten the tender skin in your nose.

6. Wash your hands frequently. This is often your best defense. Wash the entire hand using warm water and soap. Don't forget to clean under fingernails. Wash for about 10 seconds.

7. Avoid putting your hands near your eyes, nose or mouth, unless you have washed. Most bacteria and germs are spread from a surface to your hands to your face. Few germs are transmitted through the air.

8. Clean your 'shared spaces' more often than other times of the year. Remember phones, keyboards, steering wheels, office equipment and other items used by several people during the day.

9. Get a flu shot. Flu shots are especially beneficial for those with wekened immune systems, the elderly or those who come in contact with a lot of people. Check with Health Services for more information.

10. Get enough sleep. During sleep, your body's immune system goes into high gear to protect you from illness. Lack of sleep can reduce immune functioning making you susceptible to sickness.

11. Drink more water. In the fall and winter, it is easy to overlook your thirst and get dehydrated. Make sure you consume 8 glasses a day.

Continue a moderate exercise program. Try to maintain a 3-4 day a week exercise routine. Consistency is key.

12. Eat healthily. A good rule is to eat 10-15 calories per pound of "desired body weight." If your ideal weight is 170 lbs, then consume 1700-2550 calories a day (1700 for sedentary individuals and 2550 for extremely active types.)

13. Limit alcohol intake. Alcohol can be dehydrating which, in turn, may decrease your resistence to bacteria.

14. Finally, listen to your body. If you are less than 100% you will feel better and recover faster if you let yourself rest.

Cuisine Inspired By The Culture Of Mexico

Love Mexican foods? Youre not alone. Mexico-inspired fare has been enjoyed by people around the globe for centuries. But if youve worried that youre just not a good-enough cook to put together a dish reminiscent of warm, tropical Mexico, fear not. Below are some quick dishes that anyone can put together. Your guests (or family feasters) will definitely say, Ole! when they taste these tidbits.

Quick Enchiladas

What shouts Mexico more than a good enchilada? You can make some very quickly with this fast recipe. Though its not exactly what youd find in Mexico City, itll sate the appetites of your ninos and ninas.

Ingredients: broiled or grilled chicken (you can even get this pre-made and pre-cooked; all you have to do is warm it up!); shredded lettuce; diced tomatoes; diced onions; low fat sour cream; low fat Monterey jack cheese; sliced black olives; sliced green olives; salsa (mild, medium, or spicy); and numerous 10 or 12 flour burritos.

Directions: Assemble your burritos by laying down a flour burrito, spreading the sour cream in the middle of it, then layering all the other items except for the cheese and salsa. Wrap it up and put it on a baking sheet. Continue making enchiladas until all burritos have been used. Then, sprinkle salsa and cheese on top of the enchiladas. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 10 minutes to melt the cheese and warm them up. Enjoy!

Mexico-inspired bean dip

This bean dip is quick to assemble and tastes amazing. Serve it warm and watch it disappear.

Ingredients: one can of low fat refried beans; one small container of low fat sour cream; one 8 ounce package of Monterey jack cheese; one small jar of sliced black olives; one jar of salsa (your favorite); and low fat baked tortilla chips.

Directions: In a casserole dish, layer the items as follows: beans, half the container of cheese, both jars of olives, sour cream, rest of cheese, and salsa. Then, warm up the casserole for about 15 minutes (or until the cheese is melted) in a 350 degree oven. Serve with chips.

Homemade Tortilla Chips

Ever gotten fed up with your tasteless tortilla chips? Try these homemade versions on for size! You wont have to travel to Mexico you can get them in your own kitchen. And the folks who get to enjoy them will be happy to call you a talented senora, senora, or senorita.

Ingredients one package of 12 flour burritos; olive oil; Mexico spices (often, major spice makers will offer a blend of Mexico-inspired flavors); low fat sour cream; low fat (or homemade) guacamole; and salsa (your choice).

Directions: Using a pizza cutter, slice the burritos into quarters (thus, there will be four small triangles for each 12 burrito). Lay them out on a baking sheet (make sure they dont overlap). Brush each triangle with olive oil, then lightly sprinkle with Mexico-inspired spices. Bake at 350 degrees for about 12-15 minutes until just browned. Serve warm with salsa, sour cream, and guacamole.

Hiking Tips - Snake Bites in South Africa

Only 10% of South African snakes are venomous (I am not sure of the proportion in other countries), the younger snakes having a higher concentration of venom that the adult snakes.

Snakes have either teeth or fangs. Fangs can either be found in the back of the mouth or in the front, and can either inject the venom into your skin or squirt it into your eyes. Problems that you will face are:

Can you identify the snake? Most people cannot.

Is the snake venomous? This can only be known by the identity of the snake.

If the snake is venomous, what type of venom was injected into you? Once again, the identity of the snake will solve this one.

How long will you live for? That depends on how old the snake was, how much venom was actually injected and the concentration of the venom.

TYPES OF VENOMOUS SNAKE BITES

Cobras and Mambas inject Neurotoxic venom which will affect the nervous system and cause initial muscle weakness, blurred vision, difficulty in swallowing and breathing and eventually paralysis.

Adders inject Cytotoxic venom which will cause massive swelling and bruising to the area that was bitten, and could eventually burst the skin open.

Boomslange and Vine Snakes inject Haemotoxic venom which destroys the platelets in the blood and causes major internal bleeding in the lungs, liver, kidneys, spleen etc., and blood will also leak out of all orifices in your body, including minor wounds and bruises.

Berg Adders are highly dangerous as they inject both Neurotoxic and Cytotoxic venom into you.

TREATMENT OF SNAKE BITES

What NOT to do:

Do not panic and run around as this will increase the blood circulation and transport the venom quicker around the body.

Do not make a tourniquet (this means to tie a cloth tightly around the arm or leg) as this will kill the arm or leg below it and it might have to be amputated later, as well as concentrate the venom (if it was a venomous bite) in the area and kill that body part off quicker.

Do not cut and try to suck out the venom as we see them do in cowboy movies, as the venom will still get absorbed into your blood stream through your gums and cheeks.

What TO do:

Do loosen the clothing, reassure the patient, and keep him calm and quiet.

Do dress the wound with a bandage and keep it cool (in the shade). This will stop your blood vessels dilating and decrease the blood flow in that area.

Do watch the patient carefully, if he loses consciousness, apply the ABC's (see below).

The ABC's (these three things are useful to remember in the majority of first aid situations):

A = Airways, tilt his neck backwards to get the tongue away from the back of his throat and stop him from choking on it. Do not put a blanket or anything under his head.

B = Breathing, look, listen and feel to check if he is still breathing. If he has stopped breathing, give him one breath every five seconds.

C = Circulation, check his pulse in his neck, on either side of his windpipe, or listen for a heartbeat by putting your ear next to his chest.

Once the situation has been assessed, then get help as quickly as possible. He would need to get to hospital soon. In hospital, if the snake is unknown, they would treat the patient symptomatically, that is, they would put him on a breathing machine if he stops breathing, give antibiotics if he shows signs of infection, etc.

Most people that get brought to hospital for snake bites, don't know much about the snake, so the practice of giving the patient an anti-venom is only done is certain cases.

(Besides, anti-venom is only housed in Cape Town and Pretoria, so anyone hiking in the Drakensberg - South Africa - and that gets bitten by a snake, will probably get brought to a Durban hospital, hence the symptomatic treatment which is given - this applies to South Africa).

The Biodiesel Car

In todays society, Researchers in the United States and around the world are searching for ways to develop alternate forms of fuel. With the ever-rising fuel costs, developing alternate energy is a priority.

Bio diesel was developed to combat the high gas and oil prices. It is especially made for use in bio diesel cars and trucks.

Bio-diesel is made from all natural foods that produce oil. Oils such as vegetable, canola, peanut, rapeseed, palm and olive oil can be used as bio diesel fuel.

Virtually all oils that you use in your kitchen everyday can fuel one of these cars. It does not matter if the oil has been used, it can be strained and filtered and then used in the fuel tank.

Biodiesel fuel is a better for the environment because it burns cleaner and does not pollute the atmosphere. It is non-toxic and biodegradable, making it the perfect fuel.

Biodiesel fuel has been road tested and will get up to twenty-five miles to the gallon. That is better than some conventional mileage ratings.

Many car manufacturers are realizing that the bio diesel automobile is becoming more popular, and are jumping on the bandwagon and developing their own version of a biodiesel vehicle. They realize that the need for these vehicles will increase, and predict that they will be ready for the onslaught.

If you are interested in purchasing a bio diesel and do not know where to start looking, call local dealerships and ask if they offer this type of vehicle. Chances are that they either have bio diesel cars or can place a special order for you. You can also do a Google search to find a dealer that is close by.

The least expensive biodiesel cars price starts at approximately $20,000 dollars. Depending on the style of car, it can range up to $60,000 dollars. The only reported differences in driving a biodiesel car is that in some cases, the mileage per gallon is greater than a conventional car.

If you want the convenience of a bio diesel car, and do not have the funds to buy one, there is always the option to buy a conversion kit. These kits allow you to convert your current vehicle into a bio diesel vehicle.

The kits are relatively inexpensive compared to a new bio diesel car. They start at $600.00. Although it is recommended that you have a professional mechanic do all the necessary work, full instructions and a help line are included for the do-it-yourselfer.

A car with a diesel engine does not need to be converted into bio-diesel. However it is recommended that the hoses be replaces on any diesel car that was made before 1990. When the diesel engine was created in 1892, it was designed to run on peanut oil before diesel fuel, making it the changes unnecessary.

It is however recommended that the engines of vehicles to be converted do not have rubber seals in them, as over time the oil will deteriorate the seals.

A biodiesel car is very easy to maintain. The only major problem that has been reported is that when the weather turns cold, the oil turns cloudy and in temperatures below 35 degrees, the oil can crystallize. The potential problem with this is that the crystals can plug the engine and not allow the fuel to flow properly.

Special heating units are sold to keep the oil at a constant temperature.

The general public is being encouraged to purchase bio diesel vehicles. As an incentive, the government is offering special tax write offs for those who purchase bio diesel automobiles.

In Hollywood, celebrities and activists who are earth conscience have made the commitment to drive biodiesel vehicles. At the moment, California has more biodiesel cars on the road than all other states combined.

Daimler Chrysler will introduce its version of the biodiesel vehicle in the 2007. The Jeep Grand Cherokee CDR will be the first biodiesel SUV to hit the market.

It will run on soybean and vegetable oil, as well as grease from fast food restaurants. It is a little humorous to think that you will be able to order dinner and fill your fuel tank in the same place, but that may possible in the not too distant future.

With the growth of the biodiesel automobile, biodiesel fuel manufacturers are needed. Currently in the United States, there are sixty-five biodiesel producing plants and about eight hundred and fifty biodiesel service stations. Experts predict that a lot more will be opening over the next few years.

Breast Enhancement Tips For Better Breast Health

Medical experts recommend the following measures to best protect your breasts while maximizing your overall health:

Eat a well-balanced diet - Include lots of fruits and vegetables, and keep your intake of fried foods, red meat, and junk food to a bare minimum. Prevent taking hydrogenated fats like margarine and vegetable shortening. (Be conscious of products that are in many store-bought crackers, cakes, and cookies - even health-store brands.) Cook with olive, peanut, sunflower, or sesame oils and butter or - better still - clarified butter (ghee) on bread.

Avoid becoming overweight - No need to diet, just adopt the two suggestions above and you should naturally stay in shape.

Do not smoke cigarettes or other tobacco products - Like alcohol, smoking has been linked to breast cancer.

Do exercises that involve the movements of your shoulders and build up your chest and upper arm strength regularly

Do not use underarm deodorant that contains aluminum salts or other compounds. Aluminum is a heavy metal that can enter the blood and lymph systems through the skin and severely challenge the immune system.

Choose to eat in nature foods and use environmental friendly cleaning products. Many artificial chemicals (including what is found in fertilizers, pesticides. germicides) mimic hormones and cause physical and emotional disorder in your body and mind.

Take in supplements such as vitamins E, C, and B-complex as well as minerals. When your stress level is high, eat mineral-rich sea vegetables or take mineral supplements.

Expose your breasts to sun and moonlight. It feels good to experience the sun, sea, and air on the rest of your body at topless beaches or in the privacy of your back yard!

Advanced Auto Care Will Keep Your Car Running Smoothly

It is a fact that in America most families own at least one car, and more often two. Deciding to buy cars online or offline is not something that can be done on impulse. It is instead something that needs to be looked into and researched. Even if you are just looking for part replacements or special offers on insurance, it can still pay to look around and examine the options. Due to the rise of the internet, it is now possible to find everything you need for your car, or cars, online. This includes advanced car care.

Many of the services that you used to only be able to buy from your local garage are now available online, and you can get specialists offering advanced auto services. If your car needs advanced auto repairs, or tinting, or you are looking for an advanced auto part, then the online community is the best place to look. There are many services being specifically advertised as 'advanced auto' services, and you will probably be able to find one within easy each. Trying to sort out all of your needs online can be convenient, especially if you do not have a lot of time to research your auto stores properly. If you have a technologically advanced auto, or one with improved bodywork, then the internet may be able to find you someone who deals with your car's specific requirements.

Sorting out the needs of your cars online and your advanced auto care can be the ideal way to find cheaper deals, or experts. You will be able to discuss your car needs before you arrive at the store, and so the provider should be able to have ordered all of the necessary parts and accessories, meaning less of a wait until your car is back on the road. Any good search engine will be able to provide you with the means to sourcing a good auto store online.

5 Ways To Turn A Nightmare Relationship Into A Dream Come True

Is your relationship the type of relationship that you dreamed it would be?

You know, the way you dreamed it would be back when you were 5, 10, 13, before all the heartaches, frustrations and disappointments?

Or is your relationship journey turning into a stream of nightmare reruns?

It's strange how life has a way of turning our dreams into nightmares; that is if we let it.

But I'm here to tell you that you don't have to let go of your dream.

Here are 5 Ways To Turn A Nightmare Relationship Into A Dream Come True:

1. Make a Decision

Don't wallow in self-pity. Don't play the 'woe is me' game. God 'ain't' having it! No matter how bleak your romantic life is or how alone you may feel in your current situation, you have to remember that you are just one decision away from changing your life, your future, your destiny.

So do it today, do it now!

Think about this... you have lived your life for some 25, 35, 45 years or more. You have been through a lot of things and yet still you rise! Which means that what you're going through now is just another notch on your belt to your road to success.

2. Get up

So you've fallen. And maybe you've fallen for the wrong person; over and over again. So what! This is your life! You have to enjoy the process of learning from your good choices and your bad choices.

But just remember in the words of Les Brown, "If you fall, land on your back. Because if you can look up you can get up!"

3. Become the little kid again

Play! Play! Play! Don't ever stop playing. Life is too short to stop playing. Laugh like a child. Play like a child! And by all means BELIEVE like a child 'for such is the kingdom of God'.

There will be those that will come to try and wipe the smile off your face. Don't spend your energy on these types of people. They are unhappy with themselves and want other people to be unhappy, too. Just recognize people like that and when you come in contact with them do step 4.

4. Run

Run as far away as you can from the dream stealers. This could be your so-called 'best friend', your family members, or even your spouse. I don't care who they are. If you know in your heart, and they have omitted it with their mouth, that they dont want to see you happy, you better run.

Or, would you rather face the other alternative. That is, stay and let them enslave you to their life of misery. And little by little allow them to snuff the flower of your life away? I didn't think so. So run!

5. Be Thankful

You presented your heart to the one(s) that swore they loved you. They took it, they crushed it and left you in despair. But remember, from the crushing of the world's most beautiful roses are derived the aromas of many of the world's most expensive perfumes.

So just thank them. For without their help you may have never arrived to the place of wisdom and knowledge that you are at now.

The Secret to Becoming Rich

Napoleon Hill, the author of Think and Grow Rich, believes that a person does not have to be a genius to become rich. Any person can become wealthy if he thinks positively and has a deep desire to achieve his goal.

Positive Thinking: You must see your financial dreams and know that you will be able to attain them. You must already own them.

If you begin making up every rationalization under the sun why you can't succeed, pinch yourself. You have to discipline your body and mind to think positive thoughts. Teach yourself that those kind of thought patterns are unacceptable. You can obtain greatness, even if you are not the smartest, most talented, or best looking person in the world. Success is your if you'll just allow it to come into your life. Don't underestimate the power of your thoughts.

Burning Desire: Hill tells a true tale of a man named Edwin Barnes who desired to become Thomas Edison's partner. Most of us would have scoffed at him had we lived back then. Edwin Barnes was a nobody. Nevertheless, he had a deep desire, a life dream, and he was determined. He went to Thomas Edison and convinced him to hire him. He did not instantly achieve his dream, but he worked hard and ultimately became Thomas Edison's partner. This was a feat everyone thought was impossible.

Edwin Barnes followed these 7 steps to gain this great success:

1. Choose a definite dream.

2. Put all your energy into that dream.

3. Be willing to do menial work at first.

4. Visualize your dream.

5. Form a strategy.

6. Endure through the hard times.

7. Eliminate any way to retreat.

As you focus on obtaining your goals, answer these questions: What is the exact amount of money I want? What am I willing to sacrifice for it? What exact date do I want this money by? What is my strategy?

Don't forget, to successful people, there is no such thing as "defeat." What looks like defeat is no more than a great opportunity. Start creating opportunities out of failures and being successful today!

How to Get the Best Possible Beach Vacation Home

There is nothing more relaxing than having a week or two to spend at the beach. Vacation homes are a wonderful change from staying at a large or impersonal motel or hotel, plus they have the added convenience of being close to or even right on the water, having all the amenities of a house, as well as being much larger than a hotel room or even a suite would be.

Many of the beach vacation homes available offer all the features of a hotel vacation. If you are considering a rental and are going through an agency or property management company, it is usually possible to have a rental car provided for you upon arrival. In addition, many companies and agencies can also offer bonded and professional cleaning staff, chefs and even tour guides that will personalize your beach vacation and really make it a holiday for everyone in the family.

If you would prefer to just be able to relax and enjoy the warm weather, beach vacation homes can offer a quiet, stress-free holiday environment. To ensure that you get the best possible rental property, be sure to check the following:

* Ensure that you know the full amount of the rental and any additional expenses that may be included. Most beach vacation homes, especially those that are right on the beach or at the water will book up at least one season in advance. Holiday times such as summer vacation, spring break and even Christmas holidays may be booked several seasons in advance.

* Before sending a deposit or providing a credit card number for a deposit or reservation, fully understand the cancellation policy or any insurance that you may need to have on the property.

* Whether you are renting beach vacation homes from an individual or a company, be sure to get everything in writing before supplying a deposit or credit card information, especially if you have not rented through the company or from the individual before. A verbal agreement is not binding or legally valid in a court but a written, signed contract is a legal document.

* Finally, check the area in which the beach vacation home is located. While property right on the beach is great in quiet or secluded places, on busy beaches it can be a bit more stressful and noisy, especially if you are wanting a quiet vacation spot.

Doing some advanced research on beach vacation homes is simple through the internet or making a few phone calls. Planning your vacation is half the fun and knowing what you want and finding just the right beach vacation homes makes the holiday perfect for the whole family.

Mortgage Loans - Which one is right for me?

There seem to literally be thousands of mortgage programs out there so how do I know which one is best for me? Finding the right mortgage program to fit your needs and your financial goals can be difficult to do unless you are working with the "right" mortgage professional and asking the "right" questions.

Which mortgage program is right for me? This is a very common question asked by many consumers. There is no one answer fits all type response that can be given. Each and every individual person has their own specific financial situation and their own financial goals and dreams. With the number of mortgage programs out there to choose from being in the hundreds and maybe even the thousands, this can be a difficult decision trying to figure out what is going to be best for you. There are interest only loans, ARM loans, Pay Option ARM loans, balloons, fixed rate loans, extendable balloons, conventional loans, FHA loans, and many, many others to consider. Therefore, so what do I need to think about when choosing a loan program then?

Some of the main factors that you will want to consider when choosing which mortgage loan is right for you are: how long will you live in your home, do you have any children attending college currently or within the next few years, is this a starter home, will you have a pre-payment penalty, are you expecting any new family members to be added to your family, how much do you have in liquid assets, are you self-employed or do you work for someone, how much longer until you plan on retiring, do you have enough money for retirement, do you have many other financial obligations besides a mortgage, do you own any other property, and many, many others. Answering these questions, or at least thinking about them before you are ready to finance a home mortgage loan can help to greatly improve your chances of finding the right mortgage loan to meet your demands.

A fixed rate mortgage is always going to provide the most stability in the long run, however since most Americans sell or refinance every 4.6 years a fixed rate does not always make the most sense. An ARM loan can provide a cheaper payment and a lower interest rate upfront for a certain number of years, but there is a lot more risk involved obtaining an ARM loan because of the uncertainty of what will happen after the fixed rate period expires on the ARM. Interest only loans are good for real estate investors and consumers who need the flexibility of being able to make only the interest portion of the monthly payments. Pay Option ARM loans can be a great way to maximize cash flow, especially for self-employed and commissioned borrowers. However, Pay Option ARM loans can incur negative amortization, which is when your balance increases instead of decreases. There are a lot of items that you need to make sure that you understand before entering into a Pay Option ARM loan. FHA loans are usually better for homebuyers, especially first time who may not have the best credit or the best overall financial situation.

Thus, find a good mortgage professional and keep him or her for the rest of your days. The more you work with one person the more familiar they will be with your situation and be able to understand where you are coming from and where you want to go. This will help to insure that you find the proper mortgage loan for your situation.

Russian Women's Attitudes About Wedding Rings

There are also misunderstandings about monetary terms between Russians and Americans:

For example, you go into the jewelry store and your Russian fianc picks out a ring. You tell her that it is expensive. You mean that it is overpriced, or that it is more than you can afford.

She thinks you mean that that you cannot afford to buy her a ring and that she is not going to get a wedding ring. Russians think in black and white, not shades of gray.

She starts to cry and you cannot understand why. After you calm her down, you laboriously explain to her what your budget is for a ring. She still thinks you are a miser, but you make the purchase.

This may be the end of it or it may not.

Some Russians Have Kitschy Taste. I know one acquaintance that has purchased a wedding ring for his wife five times because he keeps imposing a budget on his wife.

He went to Fast Eddies Discount Wedding Rings first. His fianc buys the biggest, gaudiest ring she can find for the money, but she doesnt like it because she keeps comparing it to my wifes wedding ring.

His fianc buys the biggest diamond even though it is of poor quality. My wife has excellent taste. I explained to my wife when buying a wedding ring about diamond quality. I told her about quality versus size.

She picked a beautifully designed ring and a stone that was good quality and a reasonable size for the money. It was a little more than I wanted to pay, but it made my wife happy.

Her friend has somewhat kitschy taste. Big and gaudy is better in her mind. Yet when she keeps comparing it to my wifes ring, she is unhappy.

She keeps pressing her husband to trade up. Eventually, she will get the ring she always wanted. But it will end up costing more in the long run than if he had just bought the right ring in the first place.

Do not buy a wedding or engagement ring in Russia. The choice is much better in western countries. Russians dont have a tradition of engagement rings so she isnt expecting one.

Wedding rings in Russia are simple gold bands. They do not have diamond wedding rings as a rule.

Buy her a wedding ring when she gets to America. Let her help pick it out so she is happy with it. Work within your budget, but

Dont go cheap because she will see what other women are wearing as soon as she finds her way around.

The general feeling that Russians have about westerners is that they are cheap. This is because they are always talking about money. Dont reinforce her pre-conceived notions by being cheap.

When Russians hear a foreigner complaining about expenses all the time, they think he is greedy.

Christmas On Cape Cod

The vivid colors of autumn have now faded, the first big shopping day of the season is past, winter has already started to show her hand, and this year that we seemed to just ring in sees her days dwindling away. Yes, it's December on Cape Cod and it comes with a special feel in the air. Beginning with the weekend after Thanksgiving, there are many delightful activities all over the Cape that people of all ages can enjoy. You will see a different side of the Cape other than sunny beaches, whale watching and seafood, but it might just start a new Christmas tradition in your family for years to come.

Towns all over Cape Cod celebrate the coming of Christmas with various activities that have become traditions. Christmas strolls, caroling, festive harbor lights, and holiday fairs bring residents and visitors together to celebrate. Concerts and shows abound, helping build the excitement of the season. Many Bed & Breakfasts show off their warm and cozy accommodations with open houses, homemade refreshments and their best holiday finery.

You could start the festivities off by joining a holiday wreath making workshop on the Saturday after Thanksgiving at Pastiche of Cape Cod in West Barnstable. Or how about joining the Chatham-By-The-Sea celebration starting in mid-November and stretching through December. There are arts and crafts fairs, candy cane making, holiday plays, and a dinner dance at the Chatham Bars Inn. The Chatham celebration all culminates in a First Night Celebration on New Year's Eve.

In Sandwich, the Heritage Museum and Gardens are decked out with a million lights on over 100 acres of gardens from November 24th through the 31st. They also have indoor Victorian displays, a holiday boutique, holiday treats and free rides on an antique carousel, along with other special programs. The classic and timeless holiday tale, A Christmas Story, is being performed at the Harwich Junior Theater from December 8th to the 30th. Other performance treats include the Cape Cod Symphony, the Vienna Choir Boys, renditions of Vivaldi's Gloria and Handel's Hallelujah Chorus, as well as readings of Charles Dickens' favorite Christmas Carol.

Christmas strolls have become a popular Cape Cod tradition in many of the towns. Barnstable, Chatham, Dennis, Falmouth, Harwich, Hyannis, Osterville, Sandwich and Yarmouthport tie in these holiday strolls with other events such as caroling on town greens or at lighthouses, tree lighting, the arrival of Santa (sometimes even by boat!), festive shopping, open houses, holiday treats, special museum events and Christmas parades.

Only a few of the holiday activities awaiting you have been listed here, but if you have never experienced the Christmas season on Cape Cod, you might want to consider spending a few days exploring what the Cape has to offer. So break out your warm clothes, the hot chocolate and your Christmas spirit and start a new tradition for you and yours here on Cape Cod.

Tips for International Travel

International travel has a few extra rules to follow. To insure a quality travel experience and to avoid trouble, know these tips.

Always bring your ATM card with you. You will be charged a transaction fee by your bank each time you withdraw cash from an ATM machine, but this is your best bet. Just remember to withdraw a few larger amounts as opposed to daily, smaller amounts to avoid numerous bank charges. Most banks charge $1.50 - $5.00 per transaction. Also, depending on the kind of ATM card you have, you may be able to use it in restaurants/stores if the place of business accepts Visa or Mastercard.

When used as a credit card, it will automatically come out of your checking account. In this case, you won't be charged the bank's normal transaction fee. You must remember that many small villages do not have ATM machines, so plan accordingly. Never go to the exchange store fronts on the street or you will be charged a hefty fee. Also, you should bring the name and phone number (the direct line) of your banker just in case you need funds made available while abroad.

Credit cards are another good option since you will get that current day's exchange rate when you receive your bill upon your return home. Credit cards are widely accepted at hotels, restaurants and shops. It is a good idea to bring two different types (Visa or MasterCard and American Express) in case one is not accepted. Keep in mind that most credit card companies charge an additional fee for using credit cards internationally which is usually between 2-3% so check with your credit card company prior to your departure.

Bring more film than you think you will need since film is usually more expensive overseas. Always check the expiration of any film bought overseas.

Bring your passport and make sure it hasn't expired. Before departure, make a copy of your passport and airline tickets and keep in a separate place.

In Italy, you can also change money in the Italian Post Office. They often have better exchange rates and are open Saturday mornings.

I do not advise bringing traveler's checks. I have found that many restaurants and stores do not accept them because of currency fluctuation but you can exchange them at hotel front desks and banks.

Always bring comfortable, "already-broken in" footwear. Don't make the mistake of bringing brand new shoes! Never bring high heels - they will certainly get stuck in the cobblestones in the small villages. Remember, many of these European villages are very hilly with rocky textures.

Before I pack, I make a habit of checking the weather forecast of the country to which I will be traveling. Also, I bring a light jacket and a small umbrella.

For those die hard shoppers, always bring an extra, collapsible suitcase for those precious purchases. You dont want to break your new possessions by placing smashing them into your packed suitcase.

Expanding on the previous note, if you wish to purchase art/home decor while away, always bring the measurements of that area of your home (i.e. table measurements for tablecloths, bed measurements for linens, etc.)

Don't forget your laptop hardware, chargers (for cell phone, digital camera, etc.) and converters (hairdryer, electric shaver, etc.).

If you don't have a cell phone, remember to bring your home telephone company's Access Codes to be sure you get the best rate in calling home. (Each country has a different access code so call your phone company).

If you want to check your email while away and don't have a laptop, remember to bring your email access website information (i.e. www.mail2web.com - you will need your username and password). I always bring my Blackberry to Europe since the service provider has international access. Also, bring your address book - you may want to send postcards!

Laundry services are very expensive overseas so if you want to pack lightly, bring some Woolite to rinse out clothes in the sink. Also, make sure you bring an extra pair of sunglasses.

To avoid over packing, check with your hotel to see if they have a hairdryer and an iron/ironing board.

Always pack a swimsuit - even if it's winter, you'll never know if there might be a heated pool or Jacuzzi!

Use village names as landmarks as opposed to route numbers. By taking these precautions and preparations, you can spend your international vacation enjoying yourself and the surroundings without worrying about the little things.

What If The Most Powerful Nation On Earth Was Iran?

Is everybody happy with the way the US is behaving as the worlds most powerful nation? No? Well, when has everybody ever been happy about anything? So lets think about what other nations might do a better job.

What if Russia had won the cold war? How much do you really enjoy vodka? And do you long to drive a Zil?

How about if China hadnt decided that military conquest would be too self-destructive and opted to give economic conquest a go? Wish you could dress like Chairman Mao? Or wonder when you look at the rulers in Beijing why you never see a woman? Could there be such a thing as the wonton ceiling?

Now lets move ahead to the contentious moment in which we find ourselves. Who qualifies as being especially pestiferous? Who else? Iran can. And the leaders there seem to think they have all the right ideas, not only for their own repressed populace, but as the way the whole world ought to conduct itself.

So lets go with that. Iran is now the most powerful nation of earth. What happens?

First, lets deal with the response. Nations worldwide rejoice. Even some people in America rejoice. They just love the fact that the U. S. is no longer the title holder.

Prime Minister Jacques Chirac, lounging in the lyse Palace, attired in a robe with a turban, Koran in hand, expostulated, Actually, Im looking forward to becoming a fundamentalist Muslim. All of France is. Weve had Western Civilization for long time and, to tell you the truth, we could use a change. So out with old like Plato, Aristotle, Shakespeare, Rembrandt, Voltaire, Mozart, Beethoven and in with the new, he apostrophized, holding the Koran high, like my new favorite author Mohammed. Im just not quite sure how to break the news to the folks in Bordeaux that wine is now forbidden fruit.

Tony Blair, refusing to accept that Iran has any influence in the UK, addressed Parliament, maintaining, I dont care whos on top in Tehran. In England, were going to go on as we always have. That means weve still got Shakespeare, Wordsworth, Keats, Shelly and, yes, Dickens, too, and I wish you, one and all, a very merry Christmas!

And on the home front, President Bush requested TV time to address the nation, and said, Its my sad duty to tell you that the United States of America is no longer the most powerful nation on earth. We have surrendered the distinction to Iran. Worse yet, a lot of people around the world seem pretty happy about it. But we can be proud. We did our best to defend and spread freedom and democracy. A lot of people seem upset with that. So let me just say, lets see how much happier they are with Iran running the show.

Meanwhile, in Tehran, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, now the leader of the unfree world, gave a speech acknowledging his newfound imperium. It was unexpectedly harsh.

Welcome to the first worldwide Iranian Empire. Darius couldnt do it, but Ahmadinejad did. Here are some new rules of conduct. Everybody is hereby ordered to buy a Koran. Start to memorize it. During your period of indoctrination, you are forbidden to read anything else. There will be a test in one year. All those who havent committed it to memory will be in danger of losing more than their memory. Next, all fashion houses in France, Italy, and 7th Avenue are henceforth only allowed to design conservative robes and turbans for men and bourkas for women. On a social note, no more dating. All parents must do the matchmaking. No more music. It is forbidden. No more drinking no wine, beer, hard liquor or the infidel beverages Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola. No more bikinis, either. Were quite repressed sexually and we want you to be, too. More rules as soon as the mullahs who are really running the world give me my marching orders.

The reaction was swift and Ahmadinejad, who had by now acquired the nickname of Ahmadinejab, because he always seemed to be poking his fist in where it didn't belong, had begun to learn the harsh lessons of empire mainly, no matter how nice you are, or in his case, not so nice, the underlings will grumble.

Thus the great question came to hang over him like a scimitar. What is better, to be loved or feared? More challenging still, is either manageable?

Even as the most humble servant of Iran's Muslim clerics adjusted to his new role, a few people in scattered corners of the world began to ask, secretly and with fear of being detected even by their fellow fundamentalist family members, the most appalling question of all. Were they better off when the US was the most powerful nation on earth?

Lawsuit Loan! No-Risk Legal Finance!!

Lawsuit Loan! No-Risk Legal Finance!!

99% of plaintiffs involved in lawsuits don't realize they can get cash advance before their case settles. It is called Lawsuit funding or often referred as Lawsuit loans, Legal finance, Lawsuit cash advance or Personal injury settlement. But these are not loans because the money does not have to be paid back unless the case is won or settled.

These are non- recourse cash advances. It carries no risk because plaintiffs owe nothing if they lose the case. The client must be represented by an Attorney, and need money prior to settlement due to financial hardship.

Lawsuit loan or Legal finance can provide a very timely financial solution to help plaintiffs who are having financial difficulties. Usually the plaintiff's financial hardship is the result of being injured and not being able to work.

Mostly plaintiffs have missed work or lost their job and can no longer meet their mortgage/ rent or car payments. Many of them may be one or two payments away from foreclosures. They may be in need of medical treatments. They need to pay children's education expenses.

But now these new Lawsuit loans are great help to plaintiffs. In the past, these claimants have needed to accept lesser settlement amounts due to pressing financial difficulties. Now, clients can sustain their personal lives and give the attorney the necessary time to achieve the full value of the case.

The process to receive Lawsuit loan or Legal finance is risk free & simple. There is no application or upfront fees. Approval is fast. Plaintiff may have a bad or no credit. There are no monthly payments. They pay back only when they win or settle the case. They owe nothing if they lose the case. They can use the cash advance in any way they like.

Legal Finance: How does it work? This total process is confidential, prompt and discreet:

1. The first step is to complete an Application Form. Making an application is free and there is no obligation
2. Plaintiff authorizes attorney to release case information to underwriters
3. Quick and thorough underwriting process to qualify client.
4. If approved plaintiff completes funding agreement
5. Bank check delivered to plaintiff
6. Plaintiff payback upon successful settlement/verdict of case
7. If plaintiff loses case, plaintiff owes nothing to funding company

Legal Finance is available for many types of cases. Some of them are:

A. Personal Injury, Automobile Accidents, Pedestrian injury any Type
B. Pharmaceutical Litigation like Zyprexa etc.
C. Asbestos / Mesothelioma lawsuit
D. Tobacco/Smoking cases
E. Slip & Fall Cases, Burn Injuries
F. Nursing Home Abuses
G. Breach of Contract
H. Class Action/Product Liability
I. Employment Discrimination
J. Judgments, Verdicts, Appeals
K. Malpractice: Medical-Legal, Accounting, Construction etc.
L. Harassment: Sexual/Rape, Any Type
M. Workers Comp. cases (not in all cases)
N. Wrongful Termination
O. Wrongful Death
P. Patent or Copyright infringement & other Intellectual Property
Q. Real Estate Disputes
And Many More...

A lot of people & businesses are being forced to settle early for way less than they deserve because they simply can't afford to wait any longer. There is no reason for them to settle for less than their case is worth.

Home Security And Your Environment

The target-hardening approach to crime prevention through lock hardware and security systems is a must. This traditional approach complemented with the concept of Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) will greatly reduce unwanted intruders.

CPTED is based on the theory that proper design and effective use of the built environment can lead to a reduction in crime. The best time to apply this philosophy is in the design phase, before a building or neighborhood is built.

However, you can always successfully apply these designs to retrofit an existing environment.

Keeping your property well lit at night with automatic timers or photocell spotlights definitely helps to deter intruders.

Plant and maintain decorative shrubbery which is neatly trimmed, especially under windows and around doors.

Plant low private hedges around the perimeter of your property or install fences that will provide a border, but will not block the view.

Keep shrubs trimmed below your windowsill so you can easily look out on to your property and eliminate hiding places for intruders.

Replace solid stockade-type fences with more open fencing to eliminate hiding places and extend your view.

Keep trees trimmed to get maximum illumination from street lights and move your parking area so your vehicle is in front of your home, or in a position that is easily observed by you or your neighbor.

Re-design the walkway to your house so that people using the walkway are always in plain view.

It's always a good idea to control how people enter your property. This is done by limiting the number of ways people can gain access on to your property.

You should frame your backyard with shrubs or fencing forcing people to use a gate or well defined walkway.

Add a gate with a latch to your front yard fence creating somewhat of an obstacle to enter your property. Reclaim vacant lots for community gardens or parks.

Another good idea is to encourage neighborhood outdoor activities to maintain a strong presence on the street. Events like block parties, clean-ups and garage sales help keep neighbors out on the street and burglars away.

Stay involved with developers and city authorities on new construction in your area. Try to work with business owners to help them increase their natural surveillance abilities and ask questions of strangers who don't belong in your space. Get together with neighbors and local police to form a Block Watch. Keep your home clean and well maintained.

No single technique in environmental design will work to eliminate crime in every case. We must re-think how our environment may be contributing to criminal opportunity. Only then can we make the necessary changes in the most attractive and natural way possible.

How the Diesel Engine works

It has been 114 years since Rudolph Diesel applied for a patent for his new improved engine. It was hoped to replace the gasoline engine but as we can all see that this has not happened. The gasoline engine having just been invented in 1876 was still considered inefficient in fuel consumption and power. An evaluation of each engines performance tells a story that is difficult to reconcile with the way things have shaken out in the beginning of the 21st Century. The invention of the Diesel offered the world a far more efficient and effective fuel based engine. It actually provides more horsepower per gallon or liter than a gasoline. This is why diesel engines power our large earth moving equipment, trucks, marine engines, low mileage cars and now aircraft.

The diesel is a combustion injection engine. Unlike the gasoline engine, air is compressed first and then the fuel is injected into it. The compressed air is hot enough to ignite the diesel fuel without the use of a sparkplug. Diesel engines developed out of the earlier work surrounding two engines; the original diesel design and the solid injection system of Herbert Akroyd Stuart created in his hot bulb engine. This means that the upward stroke of the diesel engine compresses the air to where its temperature is between 1300-1650 F. When the piston has reached the top of its upward stroke, diesel fuel is then injected, combustion occurs, pressure increases and pushes the cylinder downwards. This motion is transmitted by means of the connecting rods to the crankshaft which itself turns thus transmitting rotating power to a drive shaft which powers ships, cars, generators, aircraft and even motorcycles.

During cold weather, diesel fuel thickens when the wax crystallizes. It becomes a gel and the fuel injection will not easily work. Technological advances have made this a problem of the past. The fuel lines and fuel filter can be pre-warmed, others use a glow plug in the combustion chamber to pre-heat its walls, some use resistive heaters in the intake manifold to warm air taken into the combustion chambers and engine block heaters are used in areas like Kansas or Nebraska when automobiles are left in the cold overnight.

Diesel engine speed used to be controlled by governing the rate of fuel through a gear system. Today the use of electronically controlled engines ECM (electronic control module) allows diesel engines to adjust their timing to start according to the environmental conditions of heat and cold, regulate the engine speed in terms of RPM (revolutions per minute) and maintain fuel economy.

Diesel engines may not have beaten its chief contender, the gasoline engine, but it has kept ahead in terms of heavy machine and naval engines. It has recently performed outstandingly in the area of remotely piloted vehicle engines, set amazing land speed records for racecars and motorcycles. The diesel engine has improved amazingly in the past 114 years. The use of electronics has given all engines abilities of fuel conservation unheard of in past years. This makes the diesel engine a real budget-winning contender. This year the new 2006, Volkswagen diesel won fourth place in the best mileage evaluation according to http://www.fueleconomy.gov. Diesels may prove to be the green vehicle engine of choice in the future since they have very little carbon monoxide emissions. Catalytic converters and diesel particulate air filters have made diesel engines free from particulate, nitrogen and sulfur oxides. Diesel engines may pro!

ve to be the easiest solution to greenhouse gases.
